The following is a brief review of the seven men commemorated on the Holton -le – Moor Memorial to the fallen of the Great War 1914 – 1918.

St. LUKE’S CHURCH, HOLTON – le – MOOR
The memorial, in the form of a tall column surmounted by a cross upon an inscribed plinth, is situated in the churchyard adjacent to the western bell tower, to the right of the access footpath. The plinth bears the words:

GEORGE FREDERICK ENDERBY
George Frederick ENDERBY was born at Holton the son of William and Georgina Enderby and enlisted at Lincoln into the 1/5th Battalion of the Lincolnshire Regiment as Private 201226.He was killed in action in France ,aged 23,on the 10th June 1918 and is buried in the Fouquieres Church Extension Cemetery in the Pas de Calais.
HORACE ENDERBY
Horace ENDERBY, brother of the above served as Private 450456 in the 2nd Battalion of the South Staffordshire Regiment and was killed in France on the 30th September 1918 in France, aged 21.He is buried in Orival Wood Cemetery, Nord.
HARRY LITTLE
Harry LITTLE, the son of Henry Little of the neighboring parish of South Kelsey served as Corporal 201297 in the 2/4th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment and died of wounds in France, aged 36, on the 19th December 1917.He is buried at Nouvelle sur Selle, Nord.
WALTER MUMBY
Walter MUMBY – full name was Walter Edward Mumby T4/083267 Horse Transport, Born in Bigby in 1890, died 5th November 1918, France, buried Ste. Marie Cemetery, Le Havre. His sister was living in Holton-le-Moor at the time of WW1
LEONARD STOREY
Leonard STOREY was the son of Albert Storey of Holton and was killed on the 22nd February 1919 whilst serving as Sergeant 41331 in the 2nd Battalion Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. He is buried in the Terlinthun British Cemetery in the Pas de Calais, France.
JACK MITCHELL BROWN
Jack Mitchell BROWN has not been positively identified. Commonwealth War Graves records give 15 men of this name, principally from Scottish regiments.
CHARLES LEONARD
Charles LEONARD served as Private TRB-5906 in the 12th Training Reserve Battalion and died on the 22nd February 1917.He was the son of Charles and Betsy Leonard of Holton and is buried in the churchyard of St John the Baptist the adjacent parish of Nettleton.
